Description
Ca’ Cerchieri Loredan – also known as ‘Piano Nobile degli Scudi’
As featured in Haute Living online June 2019 - 'Venetian Nights: How The Historic Enclave Transforms Into A Playground For The Rich & Famous During Carnival’, The Telegraph online January 2018 - ‘Live like a local: why a holiday apartment is a great option for a Venice city break’ - by Fiona Duncan, Hotel Expert, and in the June 2016 issue of Condé Nast Traveller magazine - ‘My Own Private Venice - the best apartments, palazzos & villas to take over as your own'
Restored by masters and polished to perfection, an outstanding first 'piano nobile' in one of the most impressive Grand Canal palazzi in the entire city, offering exceptional levels of style, service and luxury coupled with breathtaking Grand Canal views stretching from the 'volta del canal' at Ca' Foscari to the Accademia Bridge and beyond.
Located in the Dorsoduro area in a wonderfully commanding position opposite Francois Pinault's Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art and between the Accademia Bridge/Academy of Fine Arts and the Ca' Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Art, the apartment lies within the glorious family-owned 15th Century Gothic 'Palazzo Loredan Dell’Ambasciatore', the birthplace of not one, but two ancient Doges of Venice – Leonardo Loredan (1501-21) and Francesco Loredan (1752-62).
After sitting patiently in wait for the completion of a meticulous two year restoration which skillfully recaptures all of its original splendour, this once hushed space once more rings aloud with the happy chatter of delighted guests captivated by its very special ambience, exquisite décor, unparalleled comforts and fine sense of history.
Offering memorable accommodation for up to nine guests, Ca' Cerchieri Loredan is on the first floor and has a Grand Canal water entrance for smooth as silk arrivals, departures and sightseeing trips by water taxi.
Furnishings throughout are a much-loved miscellany of 17th-19th Century family antiques intelligently integrated alongside modern and classic pieces and decorative features, many of them specially designed for the palazzo by the highly respected Florentine company ‘Archflorence’ (experts with impeccable credentials, whose work graces some of Italy’s finest properties). Sofas crafted by Florentine artisans are upholstered using traditional Venetian cloths while the description of room finishes reads like a Who’s Who of the very best in international interior design in which gorgeous Zoffany and Brunschwig wallpapers rub shoulders with sumptuous Fortuny fabrics and Farrow & Ball paints.
On entering the fully air-conditioned apartment, guests arrive at the capacious light-filled space of the formal ‘salone’ where Venetian terrazzo flooring and the lofty beamed ceiling provide a fabulously jaw-dropping framework to intricate 18th Century gilded wall sconces , twinkling Murano chandeliers hung high from above and one of the most priceless features of the piano nobile, if not the entire palazzo - the stunning fairy tale Venetian Gothic windows opening directly onto a long marble balcony overlooking the Grand Canal. Come play Doge of all you survey…
To the right of the salone and also overlooking the Grand Canal sits a regal yet comfy and tall ceilinged sitting room bedecked in antiques and rich golden fabrics and where 18th Century Venetian mirrors in gold leaf (a fashion of that bygone age and crafted by one of a number of ‘Lacador’ artisans) sit beside plump teal blue velvet-soft sofas and two intriguing collections - one of antique wax seal stamps sourced at auction in London and the other a cherished family treasury of silver boxes from Russia and China, all cleverly displayed within a handmade Roman crystal glass table.
To the left of the salone sits the main dining room also fronting the Grand Canal - a vision of Venetian poise and elegance where the formal table for twelve, perfectly attired in custom-made Chiarastella Cattana linens, requests the pleasure of your company within the rich deep red walls hung with graceful gilded sconces and a ‘capriccio’ of carved wooden Roman churches collected during family travels to Marrakech.
The breakfast room beyond seats eight and is perfect for more informal dining and light snacks during your stay, while adjoining it lies the beautifully designed deluxe contemporary style kitchen where bespoke brushed oak units, smart matt black marble work surfaces plus a central free-standing wooden butcher’s block sit alongside a major new discovery within the palazzo - an original 15th Century fireplace lain hidden for centuries and uncovered to the delight of all during the recent restoration (an amazing find now protected and displayed for posterity behind a transparent screen). There’s a professional Viking double oven with 8 gas burner hob for aspiring chefs (or, should you wish, our own in-house chef ), an American style fridge freezer with ice machine for keeping those cocktails nicely chilled, as well as further appliances by Miele.
At the rear of the piano nobile lies a further sitting room overlooking the lush and leafy west-facing garden (a grassy inner-sanctum in a watery Venice) and a classic, cosy and familiar counterpoint to the impressive formal salone.
To one side lies the double master bedroom with a romantic four poster king size bed in a soothing blend of soft Wedgewood blues and milky whites with ruby red and velvet button back chaise-longue and its own luxurious bathroom with bathtub and shower over.
And to the other, the equally lovely second double bedroom in a fanciful bird and blossom print with a tester style king size bed and an en-suite luxury bathroom with shower.
Calm, welcoming and supremely relaxing, both bedrooms also overlook the garden.
To the centre of the apartment are two further bedrooms - a double and a twin. The first, understated and gorgeous in delicate dusky pinks and ivories with a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with beautifully tiled shower, and the second, a Marco Polo fantasy of oriental Toile de Jouy, objet d’art and Chinese blues and lacquer reds in which two single canopied beds sit beneath a pretty vaulted ceiling and off which is a ‘secret’ corridor leading to its own private luxury bathroom with twin sinks, bathtub with shower over.
Near the kitchen is a further bathroom with shower while completing the accommodation (and accessed via a staircase from the kitchen) is a self-contained mezzanine suite - simply furnished with a single bed and with a separate spacious bathroom with shower. All bathrooms are fitted with soft lights, quality fittings and white Egyptian stone and feature deluxe Cattana bathroom linen, luxury soaps and excellent water pressure.
Daily maid service and 24hr butler service on request.

An exceptional experience. As an author and well travelled businessman, I have stayed at many luxury residences throughout the last 40 years and while they have all provided great enjoyment, Ca' Cerchieri Loredan stands now at the top of my list rating superior and unmatched in every category.. Adding to this exceptional experience is the attention to detail by Rachelle and the housekeeper, Marta. Together they made us feel like it was our home! Grazie!

Piano Nobile degli Scudi is truly a magical place. The entire palazzo is beautifully appointed. The lovely neighborhood could not be more relaxing. And we all could have spent the entire visit watching the boats from the glorious balcony. We can not see more

The Palazzo location is excellent and fantastic views to the Grande Canal and water gate access 24/7 is magical.
On arrival we were greeted by Rachele who is responsible for the Palazzo's operations. She is very accommodating and met us upon our arrival providing the orientation. The house staff is named Marta, and she lives on site which is a prerequisite for any apartment rental. Marta is responsible for breakfast, attentive and warm hearted she prepares whatever is needed fresh orange juice and baked goods - we were grateful for her help with our luggage both on arrival and departure. The Palazzo has (4) well appointed bedrooms all en-suites, and the windows are equipped with mosquito screens something every apartment must have in Venice! The ensuite bathrooms are well equipped and either have a modern shower and or bathtub and they are all modernised and well appointed with light colours. The main central space at the entrance is captivated by a large bright space with traditional Venetian terrazzo floors. There ceiling heights are over 4-meters yet the heating cozy, we never felt cold during any part of our stay. Here it was perfect and comfortable at all time. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a Viking stove for those who wish to cook professionally. Adjoining is a breakfast space and a second room for breakfast, lunch or diner. An absolutely perfect vacation and we look forward to returning again soon. Thank you Rachele & Marta. |

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the gracious Ca'Cerchieri Loredan. It is classic, comfortable, and wonderfully spacious. Special mention for the excellent Rachele who so professionally managed our wishes and needs during an extended stay at two VOV properties recently. Rachele made it clear that our satisfaction during our visit was her top priority. That was clear and consequently, our time at Ca'Cerchieri was memorable and very happy.

Ca Cerchieri Loredan is a beautiful apartment with amazing views. My family stayed here for 5 days and it was perfect in so many ways. Rachele, the property manager, was also equally amazing. She helped us arrange additional apartments for friends/family, organized water taxi arrangements, and answered every question imaginable (morning, noon and night). We also hired a chef through Views on Venice to prepare breakfasts. The chef was very friendly, spoke English well, and catered to our needs. I hope to return to this apartment as I have no doubt it is one of the best places to stay in Venice. Standing on the balcony of this apartment was our favorite thing to do - better than any day trip/historical monument/piazzas/etc. It's pretty hard to beat!

A distinguished, totally restored and exceptionally spacious canal-side apartment overlooking lively Campo Manin in the sestiere of San Marco. Spread over the entire top floor of the beautiful 16th-century Gothic Palazzo Pisani-Revedin and enjoying views over the Rio di San Luca canal to the fore, Palazzetto Manin envelopes 8 in the lap of quiet luxury within a refined and genteel setting of tall ceilings, pretty stuccoes, art deco wooden parquet and traditional terrazzo flooring. A perfect example of pared-down elegance and discreet Venetian style hidden behind its striking terracotta façade beside the Ponte de San Paterniàn bridge, the 4 bedroomed-apartment is on the 2nd (top) floor of the palazzo and provides a peaceful and sunny sanctuary far above the madding crowd. Centrally placed within a gentle stroll of the Rialto Bridge and all the sights and star attractions of St. Mark’s Square, and providing guests with every home comfort including sparkling bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and chandelier-lit bedrooms which are as bright and spacious as they are well-appointed, its classically furnished and fully air-conditioned* accommodation boasts 8 Gothic windows facing the canal and comprises: Stairs (no lift) rising from the palazzo’s communal entrance to the 2nd Floor and leading into the apartment’s Large formal entrance hallway / dining room with a glass dining suite at its centre hosting 8 guests A stylish and welcoming sitting room with a pair of windows overlooking the canal and plenty of comfy seating A simple yet well-equipped kitchen / breakfast room to the side / rear of the apartment with a French window and stone balustrade 4 large double bedrooms (2 with en suite bathrooms) dressed in traditional style (think period furniture, ornate mirrors and soft colours) comprising: One to the front / side of the apartment with twin beds and views onto the canal and Campo Manin beyond One to the front / side of the apartment with a double bed (which can be made into twins at your request), canal views and an en suite bathroom with shower One to the front of the apartment with double bed (which can be made into twins at your request), and views onto the canal One to the rear / side of the apartment with twin beds with an en suite bathroom with bathtub 2 additional bathrooms (both with shower) complete Palazzetto Manin’s extensive accommodation *Please note that the operation of air-conditioning and heating are subject to municipality regulation. In general, heating is available from mid-October to mid-April, while air-conditioning is available from mid-April to mid-October. Please contact us for further information. OUR COMMENT Gaze on gondolas gliding by from your windows on the canal! – a perfect palazzo apartment well suited to larger groups who’d like easy access to Venice’s central sights. Moments to the charming Scala Contarini del Bovolo (Staircase of the Snail) via Campo Manin to the fore, and just a quick sidestep off the vibrant little shop-filled thoroughfare known as Calle de la Mandola / Cortesia connecting Campo Sant’ Angelo to Campo Manin, with the famous Rialto Bridge and district to the north and St. Mark’s Square and its myriad attractions to the south. A short amble to the Teatro La Fenice, to the breathtakingly beautiful, ultra-atmospheric Palazzo Fortuny Museum of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo – famous photographer, painter, stage and textile designer – well worth a visit if open (usually only during exhibitions) and the Multisala Rossini complex housing a 3-screen cinema and a large, newly re-opened Despar supermarket for stocking up on self-catering supplies, only few minutes away and no briges to cross. Within easy reach of 2 vaporetto (water bus) stops for easy travel around the city – one at Rialto on the Riva Del Carbon and the other at Sant’ Angelo – and to 2 ‘traghetto’ services ferrying passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal (please check operating times) – one between the Riva Del Carbon near Rialto in the district of San Marco and the Riva Del Vin at San Silvestro in the district San Polo, and the other between Calle Del Tragheto near Sant' Angelo in San Marco and San Toma in San Polo. For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.4 reviews

Ring the bell for ‘Curtain Up’ at Ca’ Dell’ Opera Terrace– a tale of transformation from ugly duckling to swan Lavishly and luxuriously renovated to the same exceptional standards as those offered by our spectacular Grand Canal palazzi and piano nobile properties, and welcoming guests with a comforting sense of warmth and intimacy in tune with its rather cosier yet still more than ample proportions, VOV is delighted to bring you this showstopping new apartment. Brimming with character and showcasing the fruits of yet another supremely successful creative collaboration between Views on Venice and trusted architect and interior design company Archflorence, Ca’ Dell’ Opera stands proud alongside Ca’ Del Teatro, Ca’ Cerchieri Loredan, Ca’ Dell’ Ulivo, Ca' Della Luce, La Marchesa and Gondolieri in an innovative and highly regarded line-up of VOV - owned and completely restored apartments – individually designed with refinement and taste to elevate them all to the very top of their league, and marrying Venetian spirit and understated glamour with flawlessly executed Florentine flair. Named and beautifully decorated (though somewhat less ostentatiously!) in homage to the magical jewel-like opera houses of Venice – the Malibran, the Goldoni and, of course, La Fenice – and in memory of those theatres that have long disappeared, Ca’ Dell’ Opera has 4 bedrooms/4 bathrooms and is charmingly located in peaceful Campo degli Incurabili, Dorsoduro, close to the Accademia Galleries and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and steps from the Zattere with its spectacular views. Sleeping 8 (+1) in a relaxed atmosphere of quiet affluence and comfortable living, the fully air-conditioned* apartment is spread over 3 levels and impeccably presented from top-to-toe in bespoke soft furnishings and custom-built fittings all unique to Ca’ Dell’ Opera. Important: please note that the apartment only accepts fully supervised children over 6 years of age or under 1 year (non-walking babies) because of the internal stairs and ‘altana’ rooftop terrace. Generous as well as flexible in terms of space, and boasting a new and truly wonderful furnished ‘altana’ rooftop terrace offering splendid views across rooftops towards St. Mark’s Campanile, Salute and more, accommodation comprises: Ground floor • A main entrance hallway leading to a beamed double bedroom with twin beds, gothic-inspired mirrored wardrobe, terrazzo flooring and a smart en-suite bathroom with shower and deluxe fittings. • A handy utility room with combined washer/dryer on the opposite side of the hallway, and a stairs rising to the level above.
